Frequently asked questions

How long have you been writing children's books?

I wrote my first children's book in 2016 and it will be released August 2019. "Goodnight Ambulance" was written in December 2018 and released during EMS Week, May 2019.

Where did you get the idea to write your books?

I have worked on an ambulance as well as a police officer. I want my readers to not be scared when these heroes need to respond and handle scary situations. The goal of my books are to answer some of the questions that my readers may have never thought about. (i.e. What happens when the ambulance gets a call during the night?)

What can be expected next?

I plan to continue writing children's books themed around first responders, military, and mental health topics. "Goodnight Officer" is being released in July 2019, "The Adventures of Tiny and Moose" is set to debut in August 2019, and "How Hurt Works" (written and illustrated by myself) is set to debut Fall of 2019. In 2020, the series will continue with "Goodnight Soldier" as well as "Goodnight Marine".

How did you connect with your illustrator, Ralfs Treimanis?

I posted this project on Freelancer.com and I requested simple sketches of an EMT and an ambulance. Nearly 85 artist responded. Ralfs made it on the short list and ended up being chosen to illustrate "Goodnight Ambulance". Being from Latvia, it made for interesting communication considering the time difference. He has been amazing to work with and is very talented. To see more of his work, visit https://www.freelancer.com/u/rafaelsline?ref_project_id=18885315
